Game Mechanics - WIP

Car Upgrade Effectiveness

This mechanic allows players to upgrade their car’s performance before each race. However, the success of the upgrade is determined by a dice roll. This adds an element of luck and risk to the game, as players must weigh the potential benefits of the upgrade against the risk of failure.

Team Dynamic Outcomes

After each race, players must decide how to allocate their team resources between improving their car's performance and developing their drivers. This decision impacts the team’s overall performance in future races. For example, if a player chooses to focus on their driver’s development, their car’s performance may suffer in the short term, but their driver will improve over time, leading to better results in future races.

Race Calendar

The game is structured around a 20-race calendar, with each slot on the board representing a different race. The player must choose the appropriate strategy for each race based on factors such as track conditions, weather, and tyre selection. This requires careful planning and decision-making on the part of the player.

Multiple-Choice Scenarios

Before each race, the player is presented with a multiple-choice scenario that can affect the outcome of the race. These scenarios are based on real-life racing situations and use the actual F1 point system to determine the outcome. The player must choose the best option to maximise their points and improve their team’s standings.

Attribute Cards

Throughout the game, players can draw attribute cards that represent different team resources such as wind tunnels, aerodynamic departments, and staff size. These cards provide the player with advantages or disadvantages in certain areas, adding an element of unpredictability to the game.

Different Team Attributes

Each team has different attributes at their disposal reflecting the real-life differences between teams. For example, some teams may have a strong focus on aerodynamics, while others may have a large staff size. This adds a unique play style for each team, as players must learn to maximise their team’s strengths while minimising their weaknesses.

Points System

The game uses the actual racing points system to determine the winner. Points are awarded based on the outcomes dictated by the player. The player with the most points at the end of the season is declared the winner. This adds a sense of competitiveness and encourages players to strive for better results throughout the season.

Sponsorship Opportunities

In between races, players will have downtime where they can pursue side quests to gain potential sponsorship opportunities. These opportunities will require players to make decisions that will affect their team’s image and fan reaction. A good image and fan reaction can lead to more sponsorship revenue in the future.

Driver Exchange

During the game, a player’s driver can leave or be exchanged with other players randomly. This adds an element of unpredictability and requires players to have contingency plans in place.

Different Budget Allocation

Each team will have a different budget allocation, reflecting the actual differences between teams. This budget will impact the player’s ability to upgrade their car and make strategic decisions throughout the game.

Fan Reaction

The player’s decisions during the game will affect their fan reaction. This will impact their sponsorship revenue in the future. For example, a player who consistently makes risky decisions that result in crashes may be seen as a reckless driver, which could result in a negative fan reaction and lower sponsorship revenue.

Replayability

To ensure replayability, the game can have multiple difficulty levels and different tracks with varying challenges. Additionally, players can choose different teams and drivers, each with their own unique attributes and play styles, to add more variability to the gameplay. The game can also have expansion packs to add more tracks, teams, and attributes.
