Playtest #1

Play Test Session #1 18/03/23

Players

A - Rune Racing

B - Scuderia Prestigio

C - Elite Racing

D - Buzz Racing

Setup

The Players chose their teams and drivers based on their preferences. Each team has been allocated a budget. The board has been set up with the 20-race calendar and each player has their own attribute cards.

Round One - Silverstone GP

Before the first race, the players roll a die to determine the effectiveness of their car upgrades. A rolls a 5, B rolls a 3, C rolls a 6 and D rolls a 2. A and C’s upgrades are successful and they gain a boost to their car’s performance for the first race.

Next, the players are presented with a multiple-choice scenario before the race. The scenario is based on the first race of a season. A chooses the option that maximises their points, while B goes for the option that improves their driver’s development. C and D choose options that balance points and driver development.

After the race, each player decides how to allocate their team resource between their car’s performance and their driver’s development. A and C allocate more resources to their car’s performance, while B and D allocate more resources to their driver’s development.

Round Two - Miami GP

Before the second race, the players roll a die to determine the effectiveness of their car upgrades. A rolls a 2, B rolls a 6, C rolls a 4 and D rolls a 5. Only B’s upgrade is successful.

This time, A and B choose options that improve their driver’s development, while C and D go for options that maximise points.

After the race, A and B allocate more resources to their driver’s development, while C and D allocate more resources to their car’s performance.

Round Three - Texas GP

Before the third race, the players roll a die to determine the effectiveness of their car upgrades. A rolls a 6, B rolls a 1, C rolls a 5, and D rolls a 3. A and C’s upgrades are successful.

The multiple-choice scenarios before the race require the players to consider the weather conditions. A and D choose options that balance points and driver development, while B and C go for options that maximise points.

After the race, each player decides how to allocate their team resources between their car’s performance and their driver’s development. A and D allocate more resources to their driver’s development, while B and C allocate more resources to their car’s performance.

Final Result

After 3 races, A’s Rune Racing ended up with the most points and was declared the winner. C’s Elite Racing comes in second place. Following by D’s Buzz Racing and B’s Scuderia Prestigio.

Feedback on Gameplay

The players enjoyed the game and felt that it was a realistic simulation of the racing world. They appreciate the different team attributes and the multiple-choice scenarios before each race. They also liked the fact that the game used a recognisable points system.

Some players suggested that the dice roll for car upgrades could be more impactful, while others felt that the game needed more side quests to break up the race. Overall, the players were excited to play again and try different teams and strategies.

Feedback on NFC Cards

Overall, users seemed to enjoy the physical NFC card functionality and the information provided about each driver. However, some users felt that the app could benefit from more interactive features, as well as a wider variety of cards available. Improvements to the interface and navigation were also suggested by some testers.

Tester A:

Positive Feedback: ‘I really enjoyed using the application and scanning cards with my phone. It made me feel like I had a collection of both tangible and digital cards.’

Tester B:

Positive Feedback:‘The NFC card scanning feature worked great. It was really cool to see the card come to life on my phone.’

Negative Feedback: ‘The application could use more variety in the type of cards that are scanned.’

Tester C:

Positive Feedback: ‘I love how the app shows the driver's stats and career highlights. It makes the cards feel more valuable and informative.’

Negative Feedback:  ‘The app could use some more interactive features. It would be cool if I could compete against other users or participate in challenges to win more cards.’

Tester D:

Positive Feedback: ‘The app is very visually appealing and easy to use. It's perfect for players who want to collect and learn about their favourite drivers.’

Negative Feedback:  ‘The app could use some more social features. It would be cool if I could share my collection with friends or see what other people are collecting.’
